Since I am so busy and don’t have the time to put together the type of a post that I would like to I am going to give you a quick fun post today. I also don’t want to only have one post for you this week.
So for your enjoyment…
10 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me
- When I first started this blog I was in early pregnancy so the name Grow With Stacy had a double meaning! You can even see a picture of me on this post.
- I’m writing a novel that I will be releasing sometime this year. I’m very excited about this because it’s a dream that I’ve had for many years and writing it is such a thrill.
- I run a home preschool and this is my tenth year.
- I home educate my children.
- I have a very healthy appreciation for vampires. Okay, okay. You’ve got me. I love vampires!
- When I was a teenager I won 2nd place in two state Tae Kwon Do tournaments.
- This year I will celebrate my 13th wedding anniversary.
- I am a survivor of thyroid cancer. This year marks four years!
- When I was a kid everyone said that I looked just like Punky Brewster.
- In junior high I won an award for having the school’s “best dressed ears” because of my crazy and enormous earring collection.
Does anything on this list surprise you?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
To Your Success,

You are right I wasn’t knowing about these and congrats for your 13th wedding anniversary.

Hi Paul,
My kids are still young, the oldest being five. I make sure that they get a lot of social interaction and I will continue to do that. I think that there are so many benefits to a home education that I don’t think there is much to be missed. Homeschoolers even have proms and graduation services. It’s not for everyone but it works for us. I shared ten reasons here: http://homeschoolingadventures.webs.com/reasons.htm There is also a lot of other resources about homeschooling that I’ve put on that site if you’re interested to learn more.

Thanks for sharing all these facts about you. It is always encouraging to read about someone beating off the horrible cancer disease.
I have also thought about home schooling my future kids as I would worry about them being affected by the bad influences in schools these days. Do they have to attend an exam center for the tests or is it entirely done from home via computer?

Hi Jean,
Each state has different requirements for home education. They vary from very lenient to very strict. You can google “(your state)’s homeschooling laws”.
Good luck!

Hi Stacy,
thank you for sharing this with us. So many interesting things about you.
I like the fact that you home school your kids, I wish that was permitted in all countries, but unfortunately many European countries don’t allow this yet. There was actually a family in Germany that wanted to home school their children and they had to emigrate to the US because it was forbidden there. Very sad.

Hi Mariella,
I think it’s really unfortunate that some countries don’t allow homeschooling. I do know that Germany is one of those countries. Though at the same time I believe that their education system is much better so that is a plus. Even though I do think that the parents should have the choice to educate their children if they want to.

Wow, there are a lot of interesting and definitely inspiring things about you. You are very lucky to have survived thyroid cancer. You know, aside from chemotherapy there are a lot of people that just changed their lifestyle totally to survive cancer. Surprisingly though, it worked and they only ate a lot of fruits and vegetable and kept their diets safe for their condition.
