This post is part of my interview series this month with top bloggers.
Today’s interview is with Ray Higdon who is a skilled marketer, the number one earner in his company and his blog is FULL of valuable training for free. To see a little bit of what he teaches see my very popular post Unique Marketing Ideas for Entrepreneurs that I wrote after listening to one of his trainings.
How did you get your start in blogging?
I thought it would be a good way to brand myself and have my own site. I didn’t understand how to do it correctly but just did it anyway. This was back in 2009 and my early blogs were terrible and designed to get traffic from non-congruent oddball keywords. Needless to say, it didn’t work that well
What is your greatest accomplishment in blogging?
I was rated the #1 mlm blog this past year (user voting) which was a really tough competition and was cool. I also got over 14 million hits last year which equated to some pretty impressive numbers in affiliate sales.
What has been one of your greatest challenges and how did you overcome it?
To stay consistent when I was dead broke, in foreclosure and questioning my own self worth. Almost everyday I would go through bouts of depression due to feeling so stupid for losing so much money in real estate and making poor decisions.
What do you do that is considered unconventional in the blogging world?
Being consistent. Most people will do 3-10 day stints where they produce content. That does not work, you might as well not even bother writing. Writing 5-7 times a week, week after week, for at least a year is the only way to look at blogging as an effective marketing tool, that is, unless you are a celebrity already.
Who has influenced you to get where you are today?
With blogging? I learned almost everything I know about blogging from my lead system pro. They have created the careers of so many marketers, some marketers seem to forget this, I certainly don’t and won’t.
What piece of advice would you like to share with other bloggers?
Be consistent but also don’t be too weak to prospect too. In the beginning you are not going to make a fulltime income through blogging, if you are doing it to make an income and you don’t have 6 months to wait for a check, prospect daily. I was at $10,000 a month+ in my network marketing company before I got my first lead from my blog.

Hi Stacey, great interview. I’ve never meet or hear about Ray. I loved the motivation answer when you asked abut his challenges. It’s very difficult to look in the mirror and see success when everything is crumbling around you. Ray’s perseverance helped hm come out on top. I think all bloggers can benefit from reading this interview. It’s great to meet you Ray and I’m going to try my hardest to connect with you.
