Keeping Fit to Boost Your Confidence

Healthy living, yoga

This is a guest post by Jane Sheeba.

A healthy lifestyle is meant to help you grow as a person in life known with good habits and well mannered behavior. Thus it becomes very essential to be fit and healthy to proceed with day to day activities smoothly. You may also know the fact that the secret to be confident lies in you becoming healthy and fit.

People though nowadays consider that confidence has less to do with you keeping fit. Confidence is one’s own belief that they are worthy enough and capable of performing their duties and achieving goals. Confidence makes one feel good themselves and helps to go for an extra edge to make things work.

Hence it is very essential to practice keeping your body fit and maintaining a healthy mind is an important factor which will invariably help you to improve your level of confidence. As a matter of fact confidence is a by-product of your well being. Don’t you think it is important on your part to make an effort to be healthy and keep yourself fit?

With increased use of all sophisticated appliances and machines man has started to lead an inactive life. He uses machines to wash clothes, watches Television for endless hours and uses transport for short travel. This has only led to a sedentary lifestyle, concentrating more on work which does not involve any physical activity. And it is not a surprise to understand the rise in the number of chronic diseases people are facing today.

Studies performed in recent times on healthy lifestyle have shown that people who tend to lead an active life are less prone to chronic diseases, stokes, heart ailments and major health issues. As today’s generation is far away from leading an active life, we require finding out what remains to be done, though the current generation is aware of the goodness that comes along with good health and wellbeing.

Physically active and healthy lifestyle boosts self confidence, mood and quality of sleep. Thus it solves a greater purpose in leading a happier healthy life. In fact it is one of the best ways to boost self confidence and self esteem. Your inner voice which says that you are fine and can deal with things even when they go wrong is what makes you a confident person.

As I mentioned earlier self confidence is a by-product of mental wellbeing by making an effort to improve your health, you can boost your confidence. Let us ponder over some easy ways to enrich your health, there by your confidence.

Have a well balanced diet

Yes, I know that this is an often repeated line by many doctors and health professionals. Today people have almost forgotten what is a balanced diet and eat whatever is available readily to them. This will only result in the loss of nutrients, important vitamins and vital minerals.

Include vegetables, fresh leafy greens in your daily diet. This is what we “teach” in our discount coupon blog that features weight watchers and nutrisystems discount coupons.

Pulses, cereals, dairy products are important in giving your body the essential proteins and much needed energy. You may try eating 3 different vegetables with your main meal to ensure you are getting the balanced meal. And one important advice is not to skip your breakfast and meals as it is harmful in the long run.

Fruits and Juices

A well balanced diet is always incomplete without the nourishment of fruits. They contribute to the diet by supplying vitamins, carbohydrate and minerals. Include 5 portions of fruit and vegetables in your diet. Always try to keep yourself hydrated with water and fresh fruit juices.

In addition, try to have a fruit salad for dessert. If you neglect including fruits in your diet, you are preventing your body from essential nutrition. Try adding more color to your palate to benefit from the goodness of health.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise and physical activity helps your body to keep itself fit and relieves it from unwanted toxins. It keeps you away from laziness, inactivity and depression. It refreshes you and gives you a relaxed sound sleep.

It’s also proven that exercising regularly increases your lifespan. So indulge yourself either in regular exercises or yoga. If time is your constraint, then a 30-minute walk or cycling will do the needful.

Connect with mental well being

You should connect with people to build social and healthy relationships. Apart from family friends are great to connect with. You can connect with nature too whenever you find time. This provides you with the much needed relief from the usual monotony of day-to-day life. You will feel more rejuvenated and approach life in a positive outlook.

Follow these simple ways in your life to keep yourself fit. Good health is a sign of happy and confident personality. I am sure these tips will help you to be healthier and more confident.

  • Hi Jane, From what I’ve learned in the 5 years working in a corporate company your weight and the shape you’re in dictate the type of people you hang with. From what I’ve seen skinny people don’t hang with fat people and fat people don’t’ hang with skinny people. It’s very sad actually so I tend to hang with none of them lol.

  • Hi Jane,

great to see you guest-posting on Stacy’s and you did a great job.

In fact, we say that the spirit determines our physical well-being. While this is true, we should never forget that the spirit needs a body, a vehicle, to express itself in the material world. The healthier this physical, the better.

Glad you mention both aspects ;-)

    Thanks for sharing your insights.

  • I, too, have a bit of a sedentary lifestyle working from home and without a doubt, I gained weight. I’m not confident with wearing my favorite clothes anymore because they either completely don’t fit my anymore or can no longer hide my bulges. I’ve started doing some trampoline exercises and taking in more fiber.

  • Awesome post, Jane. You’re right….having a well balanced diet and drinking a lot of juices, eating fruits and exercising regularly will lead to a healthy lifestyle. I usually suggest drinking a lot of water as well because this will cleanse your system of all the sugars that you’re taking in daily. The lower the amount of sugar in your blood, the healthier you will be.

    Thanks for these tips.

    Hi Jane,
I agree that with today’s fast-paced lifestyle, many of us do not have time to incorporate “healthy living” into our daily schedules. However, if one is to manage their time wisely, they will be able to make time for exercise each day and with only a little effort, they will be able to implement healthy choices on food as well. Also, taking a break from work and relaxing on dayoffs can really make us mentally fit and happy inside and out. After all, life is supposed to be fun.

For me I get a massive confidence boost in knowing that my clothes fit better. Actually seeing the physical changes in my body is a great motivator to keep going.

I too work from home and sit in front of my PC all day, but I try and do something active to balance that out. Dragging myself out of bed to do 30 mins of Billy Blanks Tae Bo each morning before starting work can be a challenge on cold winter mornings. It’s so easy to roll over and say ‘nah I want a lie in — I’ll do Billy tomorrow’. But in the cold light of day when you catch a glimpse of just how fly you’re looking in them jeans, you know it was worth the extra effort.

  • I love how many health benefits there are for something so simple as exercise. I have recently changed my schedule and have not time to exercise so I have been eating healthier and that has made me feel good but not the way that exercise does. Its funny how you can feel good with exercise and poor eating habits but you don’t feel as good with great eating habits but not exercise.
