Is your vision coming to life?
If it continues to stay only a vision and won’t come to life we will become discouraged and the vision won’t even stay a vision for very long. It’s happened to all of us, we either forget about it or don’t want to think about it when that happens.
There are many steps that we can take to keep our vision alive and out of the grave. Give some a try and if they don’t work for you try some different ones. There is no one size fits all formula for everyone.
Vision 911
- Write out your vision in story format. Perhaps something you can read before falling asleep!
- Make a vision board with pictures that you either draw yourself, cut out of a magazine or put together on the computer.
- Spend some time meditating on your vision daily.
- Share your vision with a friend or family member.
- Create a step by step plan of how you will reach your vision.
- Read a book that will inspire you to keep moving toward your vision.
- Find a screen saver that reminds you of your vision.
- Paint a picture the represents your feelings about your vision.
- Write a letter to your future self who is living out your vision.
- Put a picture that represents your vision on your desktop.
- Purchase a magazine subscription that is for people who are currently living your vision.
- Write a letter to yourself from your future self who is living your realized vision.
- Listen to music that inspires you to imagine your vision.
- Get in contact with people who are living the life that you envision. (Join a forum, a club, etc.)
- Create afformations about your vision.
- Smile and laugh while thinking about your vision, this will help instill positive feelings toward your vision.
- Take one small, almost insignificant step toward your vision every single day.
- Re-assess your vision every so often.
- Create a one sentence mission statement about your vision that you can memorize.
- Be grateful for where you are at today.
Which of these 20 resonate with you? Do you have other ideas that would help bring a vision to life? Please share in the comments! As always likes, shares and votes are much appreciated if you found this post helpful!
To your success,

Some readers may find it more realistic to work through a book slower than the author intended, but one thing is sure: following the steps in this post, though not a surefire way to accomplish a vision, will certainly give readers a clear road map for pursuing God’s call on their lives.

Stacy, these are great (as all of your tips and posts are), I already do a few of these, like reading books and magazines to try and help my vision but I think the writing your vision as a story idea is a really good one I will try this week. And number 20 is one I need to start practicing on a daily basis. Your blog and Benny’s blog at getbusylivingblog.com always give me encouragement and motivation. Thanks for that.

Hi Carrie,
I’ve always loved writing so I enjoy writing it out as a story too. It helps to bring the vision to life in a whole new way! Number 20 is definitely something to work on daily.

I truly believe in affirmations. Affirmations follow the “as you think, so shall you be” model. A few times each day, take time to say your affirmations. Affirm that you are strong, that your vision is solid. Affirm that you have a goal, and it is coming along as planned. Remember to always use positive and encouraging affirmations. Success will be yours before you know it!

I am not too sure about the other things though but I know voicing out your vision either to yourself or a loved one – I do everyday with my boyfriend- helps it shape out. It helps a lot when the person you share it to encourages you. It’s a good feeling. I also research on it online everyday by reading forums and articles.

The interesting thing about the word “vision”, is that it implies seeing. No wonder – we humans use sight as our primary means of understanding the world around us, more than most creatures do. So visual aids are likely to help us most with our vision. A storyboard. Sticky notes around the house. Hourly pop-ups on our computers. Motivational posters. These are all great tools. Other tricks work, too, but visual stimulus should be a significant part of any attempt to make a big change in one’s life.

Hi, as far as #4 is concerned, one thing I would caution people about is that even if those closest to you (supposedly) have your back, they might try to dissuade you from living your dreams if you disclose your desires to them. They might be fearful – for your sake – of you failing, or they might secretly fear that you could succeed and leave them behind.
Sad, but true…
