I’m sure you’ve heard about the commentluv premium plugin that combines 8 plugins into one and allows you to choose any post to be displayed on commentluv, even if it isn’t one of your last ten posts.
The good news is that even if you are still using the good old free version of commentluv you can still showcase any post of your choosing!
There are two tricks that I know of which will allow you to do this.
The First Trick
The first trick is one that I’ve read a few times on blogs and blog comments is to go back to the post that you want to showcase and edit it to change the date. You make the date so that it’s you newest post and it will show up first on the commentluv list.
This is especially helpful for the blogs that don’t allow you any choice and only let you show your latest post. But don’t forget to go back and change the date when you are done commenting!
Personally I haven’t even tried that trick because I haven’t wanted to take the time for all that switching around of dates.
The Second Trick
I don’t need to follow that trick because I accidentally discovered another way to showcase my older (ie: not the most recently published ten) posts on commentluv.
When you are leaving your comment instead of just putting your blog’s url (example: http://yourblog.com/) put in a category on your blog. Let’s say that you are responding to a post about marketing, you would put a link to your marketing category (in my case the link is http://growwithstacy.com/category/marketing/) and all of your posts in the category of marketing will show up in the commentluv choices!
Now you have the option of choosing from ten posts that actually relate directly to the post that you are commenting on! You don’t have to go back and edit any dates or times on any of your blog posts.
However, if that is still too much work and you would still rather get the commentluv premium plugin then you have the opportunity to win the plugin from Mavis Nong:
Missed your copy of CommentLuv Premium? Don’t fret! Mavis Nong over at Attraction Marketing Online is running a contest, giving away a free copy of this amazing plugin. For more information on how to participate in the contest, visit the CommentLuv Premium page.

Hi!
I love commenting and the problem that you mentioned above is very prevalent. Some of the sites have commentluv that allows you to chose only the first post and it is very odd to allow just backlinking one post. What about the other posts then? Your tricks are just amazing. I loved the second trick and will certainly use it.

Awesome tricks Stacy!
I never knew we could do these, though I wonder which ones of these I would really like to try out. I guess letting the older posts remain in the back ground is better, so that the newer ones can come up. But for those who may want to revive their older posts, the first trick would surely work well!
However, I would love to try out the second trick about placing the category and getting all the posts under it- that sure would be of help.
Thanks for sharing

Awesome, I didn’t know about the second trick. I did discover another way although it’s a bit more obscure. What you can do is change your website to the permalink of a different post before you hit post comment. That way your website link at the top will link directly to a post instead of your home page.

Definitely worth using CommentLuv to our advantage. I’m happy to say I have the Premium version (I love it)
But I love these tactics. Had run across some (and I sometimes use them) – but never considered linking in to category pages. That’s awesome. The double benefit of that is that you’ll be building links to your category pages, which link to all posts in that category, thereby lending even more link juice to the posts in that category too.
Very cunning!
Well done for getting Andy’s thumbs up here too!

Hi James,
That is an issue with KeywordLuv. If the blog has that activated, then the @ symbol shouldn’t show up – or you may need more approved comments on that particular blog.
