Hi Stacy,
“Just start writing” is half the battle. If you can just put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) you’ll find the words find their way.
I like your idea to go through bookmarked sites, I haven’t tried it but this is excellent. The sites I save normally have a great tip, a well-documented “how-to,” and/or they inspired me somehow. What a perfect resource for an article!
You certainly know a thing or two about #17; those are the types of articles that never go out of season.
Thanks so much for the mention here
Jon

Hi Jon,
I find that many times just starting really is half the battle, and the biggest battle at that!
Going through my bookmarks has helped me in times where I am really out of inspiration!
I’m glad to give the mention! I read that post the other day, it was listed as a related post but I didn’t have time to comment that day.
Take care,
Stacy

Speaking of Evernote, that is one of my tips for blogging. I have a note in Evernote where I can capture ideas anytime they hit me. I think of blog posts at the most random times and Evernote helps me capture and record that idea easily. Then when it’s time to sit down and write I just open Evernote and pick the topic that is the most appealing or most relevant and I’m off and running.

I think that sometimes we hamstring ourselves unnecessarily by trying to hit a homerun every time. Sometimes the best way to write is to simply do it and worry about headlines for the post later. Just write about what is on your mind and let it go.
It can be remarkably effective.

[Reply]
Hi Stacy,
Luvin the tips.
I use most at some time or another.
My fave? Being quiet. My best ideas arrive after meditating.
An infinite flow of creative ideas knocks on our mind’s door. Some blockage within us prevents the ideas from entering our mind. Meditation helps dissolve these blockages.
Sitting down to write is an absolute gem. Start writing. About anything, really, but try to think about what you’ve read over the day.
Check out what people are complaining about on Facebook. What questions they are asking about on twitter. Where they need help. Why they need help.
Ponder these questions. Also, address your own fears. My most popular posts are “fess up” type posts, or posts where I discuss my mistakes. People like when you speak your mind, because many have similar thoughts but haven’t come around to writing about them yet. Great connection too.
Thanks Stacy!

Great post, Stacy! I’ve noticed that everyday events are usually a good source of inspiration for me. The only trick is figuring out how to apply them, but the fact that my most-commented post ever is about a trip to the library tells me that people are looking for ways that everyday occurrences can be used to teach a great lesson.

Hi Stacy,
Each time I see a post about ideas for writing, I copy it. There are always new tips in every one I see.
I already do some of these, like jotting down the ideas (even though it might take quite a bit of time getting to them), skimming magazines, browsing other blogs, and spotlighting others.
Sometimes I think that looking for fresh ideas is as time consuming as actually following through with writing the articles.
Thanks for some new tips I hadn’t considered before.

Stacy, your advice that a post can start out iffy or lame matches my experience. I go ahead and start writing and get ideas for links and photos, and often an article will take a surprising turn. Some pieces (still in draft) never quite got off the ground. I don’t like to put out seriously lame posts. I’ve started keeping a backlog of a couple of decent posts so that I have something to run even when I don’t produce a brilliant, new article. It takes off the pressure to publish something, anything.
