I really wanted to create a nice ebook cover for my ebooks. At first I just used photobucket to write the title and author on the image that I chose for my ebook. I didn’t worry about it too much when I only had one and then two ebooks.
But then I created my third ebook and had some others in the works. I really wanted a professional looking one like I now have on my opt-in form and the ones that I now have on my ebook page.
So I searched high and low for a free way to create a nice book cover. I found all kinds of paid ebook cover products, there is no shortage of those. But I am all about using free traffic generation methods (and an ebook is definitely a traffic generator when done right!)
I found a free one and had to share it with you! I used it this past weekend to create new covers for all three of my ebooks and I will use it on my future ones as well.
1. Go to MyEcoverMaker.com
2. Choose the cover that you like best. There are five free choices:

3. Choose your background design. You can either choose one of theirs by clicking it or you can upload your own. They have a large selection and they are all free.

4. Crop the background image to how you want it to be on your cover. It will give you a preview of how it will look on the cover. Use your mouse to select the area and then click “crop selection” when you are ready.

5. Create the cover title, image, etc. This is where you get to start getting creative and having fun. You have four steps: add text, add images and/or clipart and then finalize.

When you insert text you have the options to change the color and font of the text.
First highlight “Your Text Here” and type in the title of your ebook. Then follow the directions below to customize the text.

Click on the red box next to the word “color” to choose the color of the text that you want. It works to best to have a contrasting color, I have found white works best for most though black is obviously the better choice for lighter backgrounds.
Click on the letters next to “style” to choose a different font, there are a lot of choices.
Note: You will be able to change the size after you submit this form. Click on the text and an arrow will appear on the edges of the box when you put your cursor over it.
Repeat the process to add your author information.
Next upload your image or choose some clipart. I haven’t played around with the clipart as I’ve uploaded all of my images. You can adjust the placement and size of the images the same way that you adjust the text.
If you don’t like something then simply click on it and then click the remove button on the upper right underneath the finalize button.
There are other options that you can play with, I left those alone so I can’t offer much help: flip, arc, grayscale, etc.
When you are completely satisfied with your creation click the finalize button. You will have something like this only bigger:
Have fun!
I’d love to hear your thoughts, questions, etc. so please comment! Also please retweet, share, etc if you think your followers will find value in this post!
To Your Success,

Love the chimp cover, by the way. Adorable and clever!

This is wonderful and I will surely need it. I mean, every blogger will surely need it because we will be writing ebooks either to give away for free or to make a sale out of it.
I will put it to my to-do list and will surely try it out.
Cheers,

Wow Stacy! I love the site. Great tip! I’ve been using ecover creator a software I purchased a while back.
It’s pretty reasonable and I’m offering it free with the paid memberships on my site, but it doesn’t have as many ecover options as the paid area of the site you shared. I’ll have to look into that for some of my products I’m working on that contain multiple modules!
Another thing I used for my audio download when I first got started online was the graphic that Kunaki creates when you upload your artwork to their site. It allowed me to create a nice cd cover or dvd cover to add to my opt in form.
Thank you for the clever solution that many marketers struggle with!

I am so glad I joined Heather’s group and am able to come here! Your blog is amazing! I am looking forward to reading your ebooks and your posts.
Funny, while looking around your blog I kept thinking the font here looks nice, I like it! Wait! It’s the same one from my blog! We use the same theme. That is funny. Now I know who to go to when I am stumped on the theme properties.
As for this post, I couldn’t have come here at a better time. I am in the starting stages of creating my first ebook and I kept wondering how to get a cover. I know a little about Photoshop but not enough to make it look professional.
Thanks so much so your great content. Looking forward to more.

Thank you very much, I’m glad to have found you and your blog as well! I have been enjoying your posts very much! I didn’t even notice that we are using the same theme, I really like it – so easy to customize. Though I hear the customizations don’t follow if you have to update the theme.
Good luck with your first ebook! I’m sure it will be great!

Hi Stacy,
This is great info. Question,
How do I include the ebook into my website or post?Is there an easy way to do this without any difficult coding?
Thanks

Stacy Reply:

Hi Mi-lintee,
I upload the ebook itself and then I upload the image of the cover into a post. Then I edit the image of the cover and add the link to the ebook.
That’s if it’s free. If it’s paid then you have to use the coding for however you are selling it (paypal, etc.)
Hope that helps!
